Living the dream

Living the Dream — the Logbook of a Former Real-Estate Investor
How would you know what your dream actually feels like without living it?
There is a difference between dreaming a dream and living it.

Treasure hunting

Seven years ago, with zero investing experience, my husband and I took a real estate investing course and set an ambitious goal of reaching a passive income of $10,000 a month. Based on what we learned in the course, we planned to achieve this goal by buying 50 real estate properties, each producing a positive passive cash flow of $200 a month. The math was simple: $200 x 50 = $10,000. Time-wise, we thought we’d do it over 5 years – 10 doors per year… easy-peasy!

A Peak at My Crystal Ball for Investments

Happy new year and happy new decade. Are you happy with the decade you’ve had and is it going to be a happy decade for you. What do you think?
I am not saying necessarily that successful real estate investments guarantee happiness, unless are you like to cuddle with your condos and buildings at night. I know some people like that. My point is that with financial security you have the freedom to do what you like with your time, whatever makes you happy.

Time Travel to your 2028 Self

I have yet to invent a time machine. Be it a British phone booth “bigger on the inside”, a super computer backed chamber in a lab somewhere or a freakish hot tub at a vacation resort. Well, I don’t plan on building one anytime soon, but I do believe that I, as well as you, posses time traveling capabilities never-the-less.

Why invest in “Plexes”?

“Plex” short for multiplex, is a multi-unit dwelling.

This means you have more than one tenant residing in the building. A mixed-use multiplex will usually have a commercial part to it; for example a store on the ground floor and a residential unit above it on the first floor.
